According to #210 (closed), it should be safe to enable AES by default. Not sure if this allows AES in the noaes builds, @divVerent will need to verify that.
The 17.0 major release is coming on May 16, 2024! This version brings many exciting improvements to GitLab, but also removes some deprecated features.
