Ugly models thanks to LOD
At some point, the jumppad models on implosion and space-elevator started using different LOD levels depending on distance. Unfortunately:
- the detail levels look quite different so the transition is very abrupt (and for those noobs among us who use default team colors the lower quality has the exactly same color as players so if the transition happens near the edge of the screen it looks like a player popped out of hiding)
- the transition distance can't be adjusted -
Given fixing the first issue requires new models and therefore is likely not gonna be fixed any time soon, i also wonder if using the LOD levels increases performance in any meaningful way. If not we could just undo the change and have decent looking jumppads at all distances like we used to.
