Jittery performance, fps down with 0.8.2 on PPC
I've seen this issue written about several times, but it is exemplified on PPC builds. Reducing/disabling options has very little impact (maybe 5-10 fps) except making the game ugly a.f. FPS stays around 10-20 during high-action scenes whether or not texture, geometry, and character model quality is set to high or the lowest setting, and whether or not real time lighting and per-pixel options like gloss are enabled or disabled. I've also tried disabling the reticule effects, names from showing about the player, and damage numbers; none of these had noticeable impact. I've tried restarting and recompiling from source. In 0.8.1 I can run with texture and geometry set to high, enable lighting and per pixel effects like gloss, etc. and get a frame rate between 30 and 40 during high-action scenes, and if I turn off options the fps increases as would be expected. This has been in single player only. No online play has been attempted. The system is a Cyrus+ board with Freescale PowerPC e5500 64-bit CPU, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6870 GPU running Linux kernel 4.14. If 0.8.2 cannot be resolved, it would be nice to provide a way to disable that silly floating upgrade reminder for at least the bot/single player of 0.8.1.
