workaround the GTK2 GLWidget bug on Windows, fix #64

This is ugly, but it's explicitly flagged as a workaround.

Since no one found a proper fix in years the best thing is to merge a workaround that works than keeping a bug forever.

Obsoletes !47 (closed).
