Version 4.0: failed to to set hardware filter to promiscuous mode
Just updated WireShark from version 3.6.8 to version 4.0.0 including the update of NPcap to version 1.71 from version 1.60. However, this time I get a:
"failed to to set hardware filter to promiscuous mode. A device connected to the system is not functioning (31)"
on the wired connections (See screen capture). The problem is that I need to capture the promiscuous packages. Furthermore, promiscuous mode actually works, since I am sending and receiving promiscuous/raw packages through Packet.dll (old proprietary protocol)
As said WS used to work perfectly in this setup until the upgrade. Going back to version 3.6.8 brings it alive again. Also updating to 4.0 but leaving NPcap at 1.60 works, so it is something with the interaction between WS 4.0 and NPcap 1.71, since my SW can use MPcap 1.71 in promiscuous mode.
Tried it on another computer, and it works fine on that. Strange!?
Running Win11.
Please let me know if I can do anything to help
