Draft: Reconnection management

Closed Ruben De Smet requested to merge reconnection-management into master

Loss of connection is not acted upon correctly in some cases. This patch uses Linux-native APIs to asynchronously monitor connection status through rtnetlink.

Fixes #142 and #84
