Can this be made generic to work with other desktop environments, too?

For example, would it be possible to have a configuration file where one would specifiy the names of the windows (e.g., "Desktop", "Menu", "Dock") and where they should go (e.g., background, foreground, etc.)?

My use case is to make helloDesktop work on Wayfire without having to do Wayland-specific things in the helloDesktop code.
