It's been a lot of change recently. Among all of it, I need to find my own meaning. I decided to focus on basics - creating a stable, happy team that delivers good results. I joined Product Planning in Mar 2025, so Mar 2026 will be 1 year, and here's what I want to accomplish till then. Not all of it is in my control, but I will still push for it.

Team

Promotions - promote who's ready on my team, help with other promotions across the org

Team mental-health - we're currently pushing quite hard, it's burning people out, it's been like that for a while. I want to change that

  • Find another Senior+ BE engineer for the team.
  • Successfully onboard new engineer starting on 2025-09-10
  • Help engineer 1 to be happier at Work
  • Help engineer 2 to be happier at Work
  • Establish a pulse survey for the team happiness

2026 Tallent assessment:

  • meaningful 2025 mid-year check-ins
  • meaningful 2026 TA discussions with everyone on the team
  • help with calibrations in Plan
  • deliver results

Deliverables

We still have a lot of WIP, and I want to focus on shipping:

  • Consolidated list of Work Items
  • Saved Views
  • Nested List or Table View of Work Items

Then we need to figure out the direction. All of the below are open questions. I don't aim to ship any solutions, but we need to figure out what we do.

  • "Project Containers"/"Work Items Policies" - we need a better solution to the current cascading group/project work items. It's very possible that it's better to resolve this before working on "custom work item types".
  • Work Items Rest API
  • Boards future

Processes

Maintain some processes we established, but not follow 100%:

  • Retrospectives
  • Async updates
  • Milestone planning by DRIs
  • Additonal milestone planning by PM/EM
