Vladimir Shushlin Busy
Hi there
I'm Vlad, I started at GitLab in 2019 as Backend Engineer on the Release Group.
Today I'm an Acting Engineering Manager for the same team.
I'll try to blog on https://vshushlin.substack.com/. And you can find me on the LinkedIn.
This page is a draft
Personal facts
- I currently live in Amsterdam, Netherlands. I moved in the summer of 2022, and still figuring out the local ways of doing things.
๐ณ๐ฑ - Iโve been playing sqaush since 2019 and still enjoy it a lot.
๐ - I do like to use emojies a lot, so expect to see smiley faces very often
๐ ๐ ๐ - My favorite thing about working at GitLab is working with community contributors. I enjoyed it a lot while working on the small GitLab Pages project, and Iโm super excited about bringing more contributions to the bigger GitLab project.
- Iโve been in therapy since 2020. Thereโs still a lot to work on, but I think my view of the world and myself has shifted a lot.
How you can help me
- Tag me as
@vshushlin
when you want me to see something or react. I only use TODO's, so I'll miss things otherwise. And don't hesitate to ping me twice, if haven't responded. - Be biased to action. If you think something is a good idea, then do it and FYI me. The only exception - if it's something irreversible.
- Give me feedback! I'm learning my new role, so all suggestions are extremely helpfull right now.
- Schedule a coffee-chat with me. I have some social anxiety, so I may be hesitant to do it myself. But I always enjoy talking to different people.
My working style
I'm still figuring that out.
What I assume about others
- I expect people to alert me about things important to them. If something bothers you or you need something, tell me on our 1-1, slack me, ping me on the issue...
What I want to earn
[Consider 3-5 bullets on your goals for earning things like trust and respect, or a broader understanding of new topics. This enables others to understand what motivates you.]
Communicating with me
[Consider 5-10 bullets on your communication preferences. This includes traditional styles such as verbal, textual, and visual, but you are encouraged to be precise. You can mention things like routine, availability, your travel habits, etc. This helps others understand why you communicate in the manner than you do, and it enables them to tailor their communication in a way that resonates most with you.]
Strengths/Weaknesses
[These may be covered in the above sections. If you prefer a section devoted to strengths and weaknesses, this will enable others to lean on your areas of published expertise and offer support in weak areas without passing judgment.]
