[JOSS] Related Work

This issue is created as part of a review at https://github.com/openjournals/joss-reviews/issues/8502 .

For the paper, I feel like some important comparisons to other software are missing, for example Simulus https://simulus.readthedocs.io/en/latest/parsim-sync.html which can also use distributed-memory parallelism.
