Unable to play a video in a background window
Created by: doniks
Playing a video in desktop mode is only possible when the media player is in the foreground. You can not have another window in the foreground and have the video running in the background.
Reproduction:
- upload a video to your device
- switch to desktop (top right menu)
- go to My Video scope
- start a video
- switch to another app => observe that the video stops playing expected: video plays in the background.
Tested on a Nexus 7, with rc-proposed image 6
It is quite easy to hack around this, by commenting out (or deleting the following lines) as root:
sudo nano /usr/share/mediaplayer-app/qml/player.qml
// onAppActiveChanged: {
// if (!appActive &&
// !mpApplication.desktopMode &&
// playerLoader.item &&
// playerLoader.item.playing) {
// playerLoader.item.pause()
// }
// }
The only potential downside I see, is that now the video will also keep playing in non-desktop mode. Personally, I wouldn't mind, but maybe other people would have other opinions.
