Cell service "Denied," still occasionally able to connect and use
I'm using a Tracfone SIM on Verizon towers. My service won't be connected on boot, and comes up as "Denied." If I disconnect and reconnecting by putting it in flight mode, I'm able to use the towers, but the carrier is named "Home." This is also not a guarantee of connection because the flight mode switch will sometimes just leave it disconnected without trying to connect again. I was able to text 611611 and receive service info during that window, but I would quickly lose my connection again. It looks like it could be related to the instability of other networking, because I'll always come back to everything being disconnected, never just cellular.
I don't know what I could do to confirm whether or not this is an issue with my carrier. I presume it isn't because normally an SIM in need of reactivation would stay connected to the towers, just without a service plan.
Something else to note is the signal strength seems really high for where I'm testing this. I get 1-2 bars normally, but in the Pinephone it's usually full strength, if not always.
