Maintainership transfer

For quite a while @romanb was effectively maintaining this project, as well as of some others, e.g. cql, as I lack the capacity to continue to maintain this code. The repository is still under my personal account and going forward I think it is best to transfer it to a separate GitLab group or GitHub organisation and have it maintained there, potentially with a bigger set of maintainers who are interested to keep this project going. I am opening this issue to collect some ideas what people think would work best. If you are interested in becoming a maintainer please leave a message here and share your thoughts.
