TortoiseGit Log gives undeterministic results
By hoppfro... on February 12, 2013 10:49 (imported from Google Code)
Starting point:
Using a git project with a few branches (deep branches (branches of branches of branches)
Goal: Creating a "first-parent" log of a single file starting from a certain date ...
----------------
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Right clicking on a file, selecting "Tortoise Git -> Show Log"
- Changing the options on the log-Dialog in various combinations
----------------
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I want to see the same log entries as resulting from corresponding git-command:
git log --after=2012-08-01 --first-parent BME-72 -- BuildmachineVersion.pm
What I get instead are - depending on order of selection/deselection of options on TortoisGit-Log window - completely different results (see appendices).
Please notice that the resulting option combinations are the same in all three provided examples - but all results are different ...
Result1.png shows the same entries as the "git log"-command above ... I wasn't able to reproduce the contents of results1.png a second time (seems to have been an obscure order of option selection/deselection ...)
Results2.png and Results3.png show some different results with the same options ...
----------------
What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.1.0 64bit
msysgit 1.8.1.
Win7 Ultimate 64bit
