100% CPU with TGitCache in Windows 7 "Libraries" folder

By philippe.mart...@teledisnet.be on November 25, 2011 07:32 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Create a new Library in Windows 7 Explorer
  2. Add some Git WC to it
  3. Click on a folder in the library or expand the Libraries tree in Windows Explorer enough to display a icon overlay

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
As soon as a status icon is displayed in the Libraries tree (left or right pane) the sum of TGitCache and Explorer CPU go to 100%.
When the icons become hidden, the CPU goes back to normal after some seconds.
The same folder displayed elsewhere in the Explorer tree doesn't give the same behavior.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

  • Windows 7 Entreprise 64-bit
  • Git-1.7.7.1-preview20111027.exe
  • TortoiseGit-1.7.5.0-64bit.msi
  • TortoiseSVN-1.7.1.22161-x64-svn-1.7.1.msi

Please provide any additional information below.
Issue #973 (closed) seems to link the same behavior to TortoiseSVN.
I'm also having SVN WCs in a parallel folder (and in the Library), but it doesn't seem to make any difference if a completely disable TortoiseSVN's icon overlays (Status cache set to None, which stops TSVNCache).

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
