TortoiseMerge removes newlines at file end

By philipp.kl...@web.de on October 17, 2011 15:28 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Open a modified file in a repository with TortoiseMerge (right-click->Git Diff). The file has to have a newline at the end (as required by some C compilers, for example).
  2. Change the file. Save it.
  3. Reopen the file in any editor or TortoiseDiff

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The newline at the end had disappeared, although I had not removed it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGIT 1.7.4.0, msysgit 1.7.7 Preview 14.10.2011. Windows 7 x64 SP1.

The file has Unix line endings. AutoCrLf and SaveCrLf are disabled.
This behaviour does not appear in TortoiseSVN 1.7.0.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
