Commit file moves does not properly remove the source file

By david.g.vanho... on August 16, 2011 18:08 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Move an existing file in a directory to another directory.
  2. Remove the source directory and add the new directory.
  3. Commit will detect a moved file, but displays as (from ).
  4. Check for Modifications shows the removed source file pending commit.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The commit removes the source file from source control and adds the destination file.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.7.2.0
git version 1.7.4.msysgit.0
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Please provide any additional information below.
This is a regression from TortoiseGit 1.6.5.
It is hard to reproduce in 1.7.2 since creating a file in a new directory crashes Windows Explorer.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
