git not found

By danad... on March 01, 2011 15:01 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Install Git-1.7.4-preview20110204.exe (default settings)

  2. Install Tortoisegit-1.6.5.0-64bit.msi

  3. TortoiseGit / Settings / General: Git.exe Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin

  4. Click "Check now" -> nothing appears

  5. TortoiseGit / About -> popup "The parameter is incorrect" and later window with empty "Version information"

  6. Uninstall Git, install again but set installation path to C:\work\Git (notice no spaces)

  7. TortoiseGit / Settings / General: Git.exe Path: C:\work\Git\bin

  8. Click "Check now" -> git version 1.7.4.msysgit.0

  9. Press OK, TortoiseGit / About -> "Version Information" contains:
    TortoiseGit 1.6.5.0
    git version 1.7.4.msysgit.0

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
git 1.7.4.0
TortoiseGit 1.6.5.0
Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Please provide any additional information below.
It seems that TortoiseGit has problems with spaces in path to git.
