[1.6.4] Search in Show Log -> infinite loop (+memory drain)

By atna... on February 18, 2011 01:22 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(Reproduction might depend on the size of the repository since I couldn't reproduce it on small repositories I created specifically for this.)

  1. git clone http://repo.or.cz/r/TortoiseGit.git C:\tgit\
  2. Perform "TortoiseGit->Show Log" from "C:\tgit"'s context menu in Explorer.
  3. In the Log Messages window, type "abc" into the search box.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect: A filtered result.
Instead: A filtered result + the progress bar gets stuck at around 98% + TortoiseProc.exe eats up all your system memory (as seen in Task Manager).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.6.4.0
1.7.4.msysgit.0
