Diff command results in crash

Since upgrading to version 2.5.0.0, a crash occurs when executing the 'Diff' command.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Open a git repository in Windows Explorer
  2. Right-click a versioned file and select 'TortoiseGit' > 'Diff'

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected TortoiseGitMerge to show displaying changes. Instead, a dialog appear stating 'TortoiseGit x64 has stopped working'

What version of TortoiseGit and Git are you using? On what operating system?

  • TortoiseGit 2.5.0.0 (C:\Program Files\TortoiseGit\bin)
  • git version 2.13.3.windows.1 (C:\Program Files\Git\bin; C:\Program Files\Git\mingw64; C:\Program Files\Git\mingw64\etc\gitconfig; C:\ProgramData\Git\config)
  • Windows 10 Pro

Please provide any additional information below.

Reinstalling Tortoisegit has not resolved the problem. After I downgrade to version 2.4.0.0 it is no longer a problem.
