Issue created Aug 31, 2016 by Teo@TeoTwawki💤

overlays sometimes blink in and out of existance for several minutes at a time

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. explore into any directory containing icon overlays while also having directories using overlays appear in left pane of explorer (see video) Blinking_Icons.avi
  2. watch the overlay handler argue with itself for several minutes

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expect overlays to appear on appropriate files and folders. Instead they blink in and out of existence for awhile before settling down.

What version of TortoiseGit and Git are you using? On what operating system?

TortoiseGit 2.2.0 Git version 2.7.0.windows.2 OS is win10pro

Please provide any additional information below.

It goes away after awhile. Minor issue although somewhat distracting. Possibly triggered by have a lot of repositories visible in explorer at once? I keep all of them side by side in "D:\Repositories" and I work on a lot of projects. I did a clean install of both the OS, Git, and TortoiseGit. All setting default. Native windows garbage that uses overlays removed (like onedrive) and those are the only changes to the system I made before recording that video (well that and installing the recorder, obviously).

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
