Encoding issues when using suggested words from spell checker

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Make TortoiseGit use Russian spell dictionary (ru_RU.dic and ru_RU.aff, included in Russian language pack).
  2. Open Commit dialog and type something wrong - you will see it underlined, as it should be.
  3. Open context menu on the misprint - you will see wrong "words" in it.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

When misprint happens, speller should underline it and suggest some correct words in context menu. It works good with English language; for Russian underline works too, but I only can see some random symbols instead of words in context menu words list.

What version of TortoiseGit and Git are you using? On what operating system?

TortoiseGit v1.8.15.0 (x64), Git for Windows v2.6.1 (x64), Windows 7 SP1 (x64)

Please provide any additional information below.

TortoiseSVN works fine with both English and Russian languages.

  1. TortoiseGit English:

TortoiseGit English

  1. TortoiseGit Russian:

TortoiseGit Russian

  1. TortoiseSVN Russian:

TortoiseSVN Russian

PS: By the way, little request: make option please to put speller things into submenu.

PS2: Also, all English words underlines when both dictionaries installed and Russian works (as you can see it in my 2nd and 3rd screenshots). But it seems, Hunspell only can work with single language per time, so I have to merge dictionaries, using something like that to use both, huh?

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
