Error on comparing files when git config core.autocrlf ends with 2+ spaces and then a comment

By danny0... on October 04, 2014 13:37 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. View the git log with TGit and compare any plaintext or other file (Compare with base, Compare with working tree, etc)
  2. I always get an error and fail.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The version compare should work normally. However I always get a 'Failed to checkout file' error. See the attached image.

What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.11.0 / 1.9.4.msysgit.2 / Windows 7 SP1

Please provide any additional information below.
The compare DID work normally and I've been using it for a long time using the above software versions. One day I did some operation on a large git repo with msysgit, and edited several git configs (via global .gitconfig) related with [path] and [core], and after that the problem started to occur on all repos.

I tried reset the configs, restarting the PC, uninstall-and-reinstall msysgit and tortoisegit, and the problem still persists.

I need to know what could be related with the error message, and if it's a bug or something I just did wrong.
