installer inserts unused or faulty registry key

By B.O.Hillebr... on October 27, 2009 09:46 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. installing TortoiseGit-n.n.n.n-32bit.msi
    (unknown for -64bit)

What do you see instead?

A key is inserted as follows:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\SubWCRev.exe]
"Path"="C:\Program Files\TortoiseGit\bin"
@="C:\Program Files\TortoiseGit\bin\SubWCRev.exe"

What is the expected output?

There is no such file SubWCRev.exe present in the TortoiseGit\bin dir.
However, on my system I can find
C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\SubWCRev.exe
but this seems to be unrelated to GIT.

Please provide any additional information below.

Please check if this key can be removed from the installer or if other
corrective measures are necessarry.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
