In "Compare revisions", please show something to confirm when there are no differences

By davide.by.z... on October 19, 2013 05:14 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. In "Show log", select two revisions whose trees are identical.
  2. Right click, and choose "Compare revisions".
  3. Notice that the space where the differences would be shown is completely empty.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Errors and memory corruption can also potentially result in an empty space being shown. In the case when there are no differences, an unambiguous message should be printed in the window confirming that there are no differences.

What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.5.4 (latest preview release); 1.8.0.msysgit.0; Windows XP Professional SP2 64-bit

Please provide any additional information below.
This is important to me because I often use "Compare revisions" to confirm that a rebase has been done in the way I desire, before deleting the old branch.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
