Using "Find" in "Show log" doesn't move to commits it finds, it only selects them

By davide.by.z... on October 06, 2013 06:06 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Open "Show log" dialog.
  2. Press Ctrl+F and type in something to find.
  3. Press Enter, which will then highlight and show the next commit in which it finds your text.
  4. Press Esc or click Cancel on the "Find" dialog. The found commit will then look like it is actively highlighted.
  5. Press Up or Down arrow key.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Pressing the arrow key in step 5 should move relative to the found commit you were viewing, but instead, it moves relative to where you were before using Find.

If, instead of pressing Up/Down, you press Tab and then Shift+Tab, it becomes clear that the "Find" feature selected the commit it found, as if by holding Ctrl and clicking the commit. The actual current commit that was being viewed before the "Find" dialog was opened will have a hollow dotted rectangle around it, proving that "Find" didn't actually switch to the commit it found, it merely selected it.

What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.5.3, git 1.8.0.msysgit.0, Windows XP Pro SP2 64-bit.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
