tortoisegit fetch hangs due to running/never-exiting tortoisegitplink

By ujjban... on August 23, 2013 16:02 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Upgraded from tortoise git 1.8.4 to 1.8.5 64bit. Using msysgit 1.8.3. On Windows 7 64bit.

  2. When I do a git fetch from within the Show Log screen or the context menu, it seems to hang near the end of the fetch. It appears to almost complete the fetch but doesn't output the results. I think it actually does fetch.

I do note that the git.exe is still running in the task manager/process explorer.

If I use git bash (from msysgit), and run the same command that tortoisegit runs, I get the proper result and it seems to work.

If I uninstall tortoisegit 1.8.5 and install 1.8.4, the fetch works.
