Option to show all local branches in log view

By str... on July 25, 2013 16:36 (imported from Google Code)

I find that the most useful view in the log viewer is to show:

  • All local branches
  • A select set of remote branches (usually just origin/master in my case)

The "All branches" check box show too much - I don't want to see all of the remote branches.

The way I accomplish this right now is to click the hyperlink in the upper left, select Refs, then select all of my local branches and origin/master. This works fine until I add or delete a local branch, at which point I have to close the log viewer, reopen it, and do the branch selection process again. I find that I do this many times per day.

If I don't close the log viewer in this mode after deleting a local branch, I get an error on refresh: "Could not open log. libgit reports: ambiguous argument '<deleted branch name>': unknown revision or path not in the working tree"

My ideal would be a mode where added/deleted local branches are added/removed from view automatically, while persisting a selection of remote branches.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
