In "Show log", mouseover triggers improper redraw of ClearType font log descriptions in "Message" column

By davide.by.z... on January 30, 2013 06:59 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Open TortoiseGit's "Show log"
  2. Move mouse cursor over a "Message" column of a commit in the list that has any kind of tag/branch/ref
  3. Every time the mouse passes over, the text will redraw itself without erasing itself first, and with ClearType enabled, this makes the antialiased pixels get progressively darker each time, until the text looks very bold and ugly.
  4. Highlighting (selecting) a commit resets the text back to normal. But once it's no longer selected, the process can begin again.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Mousing over text is not supposed to change its appearance in any way.

What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.0.0
git version 1.7.11.msysgit.1
Windows XP SP2 Professional x64 Edition

Please provide any additional information below.
This is a very long-standing bug, and I'm finally reporting it now.
