Log-Dialog constantly crashes when diffing a file while loading

By mnsly... on April 28, 2012 08:34 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Issue Show Log on large repository
  2. Type in filter expression (first characters of the committer name)
  3. Wait until first commits are listed, select particular commit and double-click on particular file

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect WinMerge opens with the file differences. Sometimes it does open, and TortoiseProc does not crash. Sometimes it opens, and TortoiseProc crashes. Sometimes it doesn't open, and TortoiseProc crashes. I suspect, that if wait until Log window bottom progress bar goes to the right end, then it won't crash, but I'm not sure, because the repository is very large and I have top wait several minutes to fully complete filtered log.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.7.8.0
git version 1.7.0.2.msysgit.0

Please provide any additional information below.
I have 2 zipped dumps, but they are of 80-90mb. I can share them, if you indicate the way to do this.

If you provide me with a correct gitdll.pdb and TortoiseProc.pdb, I can share the call stack - maybe this will be enough.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
