Partial commit resets "Added" status on files omitted from checkin

By iuse... on February 23, 2012 11:23 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Add some files to git (via Git Add.. context menu)
  2. commit only some but not all the files
  3. check for modifications after this partial commit

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the files that were added to git but not committed
to still be in the "added" state when I check for modifications.
Instead they dont show up in the list and I have to "Add..." them again.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.7.7.0
git version 1.7.6.msysgit.0
XP SP3

Please provide any additional information below.
I am using GIT SVN rather than a pure git repository
