Display attribute no longer optional

A recent change disallows manual implementation of Display. I personally felt that having this option was valuable.

Maybe #5 (closed) will obsolete the need for a manual Display impl?

Would like to hear what others think, or if anyone was implementing Display manually in such a way that #5 (closed) will not be a sufficient replacement.
