Question about I2C
Hi, i am in an progressive phase of assembling my hang printer and doing electronic wiring things. i successfully mounted up my ABCD motors with Misifit Tech Smart Steppers. I calibrated them and they work fine. Next step will be to connect them to the Duet 2 Ethernet i bought. I took the pinout diagram and thought about connecting them at expansion slot IDC (E2 ... E5).
Now i came up to fork the most recent Smart Stepper firmware from Misfit and to implement the additions you did to get the torque mode. That compiles well with version fw0.40.
While doing this i saw that you also started to use I2C interface. For me it's not clear: what are the advantages to wireup the HangPrinter with I2C cables instead of regular wiring to STEP, DIR, ENABLE, GND, VIN ? I am not an electronics pro but i really want to understand the what and why. I am happy to get some feedback. I already read your blog/homepage up and down and found an older RAMPs I2C wiring example.
regards, Mario :-)
