Title: MediaInfo fails on some files with accented names on a macOS SMB mount (works on local disk)
Environment: tinyMediaManager 5.3.4 (fresh install), macOS 27.0.1, movies on a Synology NAS over SMB (/Volumes/media). Names are stored NFC on the NAS; macOS lists them NFD.
Symptom: some movies get no technical data (resolution, codec, bitrate and audio streams empty, no -mediainfo.xml written). Log:
ERROR [MediaInfoTimeout-4] o.t.thirdparty.MediaInfoTimeoutWrapper:117 - MediaInfo could not open file '/Volumes/media/pruebas-tmm/Ryan. Operación (2014) Web-DL/Ryan. Operación (2014) Web-DL.mkv'Minimal reproduction: the same 12 MB clip (ffmpeg -t 20 -c copy), one folder/file per name (folder and file share the name):
| Name | SMB mount | Local APFS |
|---|---|---|
Prueba áéí (2020) Web-DL |
OK | OK |
Operación Sombra (2014) Web-DL |
OK | OK |
Prueba aei (2020) (Kenneth Branagh) Web-DL |

Prueba áéí (2020) (Kenneth Branagh) Web-DL |
FAIL | OK |
Ryan. Operación (2014) Web-DL |
FAIL | OK |
Jack Ryan. Operación Sombra (2014) (Kenneth Branagh) Web-DL |

Results are deterministic over repeated rescans. The same files copied to local disk are read correctly, and so are the originals by the tMM Docker image running on the NAS (local filesystem).
Other observations:
ffprobeopens the failing files on the SMB mount without problems.os.stat()shows no difference between working and failing names (as listed and NFD OK, NFCENOENTfor all of them).- I could not find the rule that separates failing from working names.
- The failure also affects artwork files: a fresh scan on the Mac logged 755
MediaInfo could not open fileerrors (744.jpg, 11.png) in 191 folders. - Related changelog entries: 5.3.3 ("macOS: fixed some issues with Unicode characters (NFD vs. NFC encoded characters) in file/folder names") and 5.3.4 ("macOS: reverted the Unicode normalization to NFC for file/folder names, as it caused issues with NAS file systems"). The MediaInfo call seems to be still affected.
- In my library, all 172 movies with an accented character in the path are affected. Only those without an existing
-mediainfo.xmlshow missing data.
Expected: MediaInfo should receive the path in a form macOS accepts (for example the form returned by the directory listing), or retry with the NFD form.
