[Consensus] Emmy*
Mission: implement the design described in the Emmy* TZIP.
Notes on Emmy* closure meeting (27/05)
- Adjust Emmy+ to reduce finality time “just” change the delay formula so that blocks are baked in 30s rather than 60s
- This required
- recompute number of endorsements (analysis of fork / selfish baking probability) 32 endorsers -> 256
- double size of cycles, and other related constants
- change data structure to improve endorsement validation time
- tests (migration, scalability)
- documentation and specification
- blog article
Dates and members
- Project dates: October 2020 - May 2021
- Crew was formed April 2021
- People: Eugen, Lacramioara, François, Victor, Benjamin, Marco, Roland (TQ), Philippe (DRI)
- Issues - 8 completed issues MR - 11 MRs
Feedback on “crew” organization (Put your comments here)
Positive (should do again)
- Project with clear boundaries
- Having an assigned DRI that makes sure everything is done
- Having clear priorities defined and accepted as such by upper-management
- No direct interaction with the client
- Using issues to keep track progress with clear assignees. It worked well for Emmy* because when we started the crew, all remaining tasks were well-defined.
ok but could be improved
- Some people are officially in the crew because their expertise was needed punctually (i.e. for reviews)
- Is it worth bothering them with crew meetings? Would it be possible that when the help of a crew member is not required anymore, this member leaves the crew?
- Some people not in the crew helped too, for instance, it was arbitrary to have Marco in the crew and not Vincent.
- Working with people outside NL: clarify expectations at beginning of project
- DRI should attend protocalls
Follow-up
- Automatize migration testing
- Automatize resilience tests
