p2p.maintenance: Too few connections (0)

I have built from source on OSX and switched to alphanet branch as indicated:

When running: ./tezos-node run

I get Jul 10 XX:XX:XX - p2p.maintenance: Too few connections (0)

Then I tried to connect some of the running nodes found here: http://alphanet.tzscan.io/network?state=running

For example idqkzAnpdTxAry6JXkrYbsJnGr3KQD

With: ./tezos-node run --peer idqkzAnpdTxAry6JXkrYbsJnGr3KQD

Gives: Jul 10 XX:XX:XX - p2p.maintenance: Too few connections (0)

Anyone ran into the same issue? Cheers
