Hm, are you sure? Maybe it should be a buyable addon not installed by default? I mean, I thought that the plan was to make assembling an autopilot part of the replay/long-play value; and things available from the get-go feel like something you are expected to use as-is. Replacing even cheap commercial offerings with something you fully control feels a natural pride point and could be implicitly encouraged by mentioning something like Orion's Arm events of Version Wars; but injecting the overtones of not trusting your own ship would be too depressing.
