tango.EventType.ALARM_EVENT stops triggering after certain period

I have polled attributes that have both a max warning and max alarm condition. I have one device that subscribes to a tango.EventType.ALARM_EVENT. Initially, the subscribed callback is triggered when an ALARM_EVENT is issued, but after approximately 5-10min, if the attribute changes to or from an alarm state, alarm events are no longer issued and the callback no longer triggers. Alarm conditions are set in Jive. Subscribing device is written in pytango. Using Tango version 10.1.0 and pytango 10.1.1
