Polling Loop SIG meeting: Issues to be considered

This is a collection ticket for the hopefully soon to be held Polling Loop SIG meeting.

  • Please link here all issues that are believed to be related to the Device Server polling loop.

  • Please add an action item to the list here if you think that it would not be practical to create an issue.

  • Create a draft for the pluggable polling loop API (header file with doc strings)

  • Create documentation

  • Make before Tango-9 and after Tango-9 implementations pluggable

  • Make after Tango-9 implementation default for backwards compatibility

  • Reference implementation with a new polling loop #1554

  • Mocked polling loop implementation for testing #1555

  • Structure the polling loop implementations so that they can be unit tested independently of Tango. Ideally, the unit test can feed in a series of timestamps and verify the behaviour of the scheduler in this scenario.
