recruit some translators
As of v0.1.0 we have a nice English-resources file with all our English strings, ready for our enthusiastic fans to translate to their local languages. Lots of people offered to translate swarm1, but it wasn't technically possible; this time we're prepared.
Figure out the best way for people to contribute. A few issues here:
- We're closed-source right now, so we can't just say "send a pull request". We're either waiting until v1.0 for the game to be open-source before doing any translating; or we're open-sourcing just the translated strings early, which means they're outside the monorepo, so there's a few technical hoops to jump through that become wasted work once v1.0 hits.
- this is probably the first thing to sort out. Once we have a way for the public to view my translations, they can give me feedback on where to go next. Alternately, no feedback at all would mean "no one cares yet, so do nothing until v1.0".
- I hope we can keep strings for all languages in git, but we're likely to have some non-technically-inclined translators. Maybe there's a better tool for them that wouldn't cause me much extra grief.
- I'll be writing/releasing English text without waiting on translators. We need a way for past translators to stay caught up, or for new translators to see what needs to be done, or for me to see what's missing.
