Stage valid signals are undefined unless they know about reset

This is related to !167 (merged), but not something I want to fix before merging it.

The stage.valid signals are going to be undefined after startup until they have had time to propagate through the pipelines. This is somewhat tricky to fix, so I'll leave it as a note in the documentation
