Playback controls react with high latency?

Hi, since upgrading my phone's OS to Android 15 I experience the playback controls of SMP to react with a latency of up to 3-5 seconds. Pausing, skipping is definitely affected. I even just had the current and next track play in parallel for a few seconds when I skipped to that next track. This is SMP 2.3.1 from f-droid.

Is SMC maintained at the moment? I think it is an increadibly valuable piece of software and the only media player on android that can use a folder structure.
