Design/Deploy Volunteer Form
We had a volunteer form on the old site and it was very useful. We need a new updated one integrated with CiviCRM.
It needs a full design both from a UX perspective and in terms of what we want it to capture and how it works with the Civi database. Here's the current draft (but it will be redone along with ops#4) sd_volunteer_form.pdf
Notes from an old email discussion:
"Relevant work/training/volunteer experience" (longer title) should have a statement to guide and encourage entry: "Feel free to either briefly summarize relevant aspects of your experience, or to provide more detail, for example by copying and pasting sections from your resume."
"Areas of interest" should not be the "type of entity" sort of options currently shown. This should be checkboxes, arranged in multiple columns so you can see the whole set at once
- FLO Culture/Journalism
- Web Development
- Cooperative Development
- Legal Matters
- Illustration/Graphic Design
- include "other" with field
It would be nice to have a pre-checked checkbox labeled "Email me a copy of my information" if this can reasonably easily be done.
Before the Submit button I'd say something brief to set expectations about what will happen next, e.g. should the person expect to hear from somebody within X days?
After submitting it, the user should see a dedicated page or message thanking them for their interest and for taking the time to fill out the form. It should also say something about what will happen next and provide one or a few suggestions for how they could engage with Snowdrift.coop in the meantime, e.g. parts of the site to explore.
