RAMP — Open Banking integration with akahu-opsdevnz

Context

SMUNZ has commissioned OpsDev.nz to deliver the RAMP reconciliation automation project. We are drawing a line in the sand: from here forward, reconciliation uses the Open Banking API via Akahu, not the OFX exports we have used in the past.

What this issue covers

  • Evaluate the Akahu Open Banking API for our reconciliation use cases
  • Define the data flow: bank → Akahu API → akahu-opsdevnz client → Beancount ledger
  • Identify which account types and transaction data we need
  • Document any gaps between what Akahu provides and what our reconciliation process requires

Deliverables

  • Working integration notes (can be merged into RAMP docs)
  • Clear acceptance criteria for the akahu-opsdevnz client module

Why now

The monthly reconciliation still needs to happen, but we're prioritising the API switch because it's the right long-term foundation.
