Relicensing needed for Rachana Bold
When we released Rachana Bold in 2015 we released it under OFL1.1. The rationale of same was following
Rachana Bold glyphs are newly designed and not a derivative of Rachana Regular. feature table components are reused. But since Rachana Bold is created by a subset of Rachana Copyright Holders, who shares total copyright of Rachana, licensing it under a different license does not constitute violation even if components are reused.
From GPL FAQ
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#ReleaseUnderGPLAndNF If you are the copyright holder for the code, you can release it under various different non-exclusive licenses at various times. http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#DeveloperViolate
Strictly speaking, the GPL is a license from the developer for others to use, distribute and change the program. The developer itself is not bound by it, so no matter what the developer does, this is not a “violation” of the GPL.But since lookup tables are separated and same file powering both Rachana and Rachana Bold, we need to add relicensing to GPLv3+FE OR OFL1.1. to Rachana Bold as well. (Meanwhile, appstream meta data already do that, that need to be reflecting in Font license file as well.
