Simplify data upload by removing the file format button
As Jens
I want to not be obliged to choose between two different file format versions before uploading data or referential metadata
So that I do not have to remember to click on such a button, because it doesn't bring much business value.
Also note that some users reported to be confused regarding the colour of the clicked button Excel and EDD files
or SDMX file
. It is not clear whereas it is the grey button or the white one that is selected/clicked. Removing the buttons will also solve this issue.
Functional specification
-
Update the explanatory text by the following:
"To upload from an Excel file, select the data file (XLSX) and the corresponding EDD table structure file (XML).
To upload from an SDMX file, select the data file (CSV, XML, compressed: ZIP) or specify a path to the file (file server or URL)."Both sentences should respect the exact line wrap as presented in the mockup
and be placed with a little more space between the two paragraphs to make them more distinct as presented in the mockup. -
The max file size indications are put directly to the two related file picker controls:
-
The business rules are:
- Only accept XLSX, CSV, XML and ZIP extensions in the file picker
- If the user selected 2 files, one XLSX and one XML, --> enable the "Upload" button and use
/import/Excel
method - Otherwise if the user selected a file path or one CSV, XML or ZIP file, --> enable the "Upload" button and use
/import/SDMX
method - Otherwise keep the "Upload" button greyed and inaccessible
