Make the shift key usage in DE visualisation page similar to Excel
As Sophie
I want to have an Excel-like behaviour of the shift-key-based multi-selection in the filters of the visualisation page
So that I can find and use this feature more intuitively and do not need any help feature.
Specifications
The shift-key-based multi-selection should behave as follow:
Whenever the shift key is pressed while clicking on any item, say item "Y",
And previously the user has last clicked on any item in the current list, say item "X",
Then the same action (select or deselect) previously performed on "X" is immediately applied also to all items between X and Y, including Y.
This can be repeated several times, thus the same action applied to Y can be further replicated to the items between Y and Z, including Z.
The table/chart update is not fired while the shift key remains pressed. Only once the shift key is released and if a selection/deselection was made, then the table/chart is again refreshed.
Examples
-
There is no item selected before starting the following steps:
After I selected "selection 8" item
When I shift click on "selection 1" item
Then all the items between the "selection 8" and "selection 1" will be selected too.
-
As the last action was the selection of "selection 1" item
When I shift click on "selection 17" item
Then all the items between the "selection 1" and "selection 17" will be selected too.
-
After I deselected "selection 6" item
When I shift click on "selection 14" item
Then all items between the "selection 6" and "selection 14" will be deselected.
-
After I selected again "selection 6" item
When I shift click on "selection 14" item
Then all items between the "selection 6" and "selection 14" will be selected (again).
add enhancements
-
leaving the Scopelist while selecting with the mouse will now validate the selection. -
improving Scopelist performance with a huge amount of values (bulkselection mode)
