Cannot decrypt mails whose secret key is not imported in Thunderbird (and is expired)
We (at the CCC membership desk) do annual key rotation. Sometimes we need to look at an email someone sent us last year, which is encrypted with a now expired key. I have the expired secret keys in my gnupg keyring, but they are not in Thunderbird's secring.gpg
.
When I open these old mails in Thunderbird I only see the encrypted message body starting with "BEGIN PGP MESSAGE". I would expect octopus to be able to decrypt these old messages as well, since the secret keys are in my gnupg keyring.
Is this expected behaviour? Should I also import my keys into Thunderbird? (Which is one of the reasons I use octopus: So I don't have two keyrings to manage)
