sane-hp3900 doesn't scan at 2400 dpi with Gray 16 bit mode

I am trying use my Scanjet 3970 in CentOS 7, but I have an issue with the TMA. Sane (sane-backends-libs-1.0.24-12.el7) works fine with these commands:

a) # export SANE_DEBUG_HP3900=3 ; SANE_DEBUG_DLL=4 scanimage -p -vvvvv -d hp3900:libusb:001:002 --resolution 1200dpi --source Negative --mode Gray --depth 16b --format tiff --buffer-size=1500 > pruebaTMA1200dpi.201903181107.tiff 2> scanimage.1200dpi.OK.201903181107.log

b) # date; export SANE_DEBUG_HP3900=3 ; SANE_DEBUG_DLL=4 scanimage -p -vvvvv -d hp3900:libusb:001:002 --resolution 2400dpi --source Slide --mode Color --depth 16b --format tiff --buffer-size=6000 --opt_model HP3970 > pruebaTMADiapo2400dpi.201903271822.tiff 2> scanimage.2400dpi.Diapo.201903271822.log

But when I try scan a Negative (Black and White) at 16 bits depth and 2400 dpi it FAIL, and the image file have few data:

When I use the scan in Windows XP with the HP original software (v2.2), it works fine but I can't adjust the parameters like sane for scan with TMA for negatives in mode gray using 16 bit depth.
