Sane Avision backend - supported hardware Sane vs. Exactcode
Dear Sane Maintainers,
the documentation of the sane-avision backend is providing incomplete information regarding supported hardware.
I refer to the Avision Sheetfeed scanner model AV176+ but I have not looked for other models.
Source 1: sane-project.org http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-AVISION --> The AV176+ is not officially supplorted by build 296 of the avision backend.
Source 2: exactcode http://exactcode.com/site/open_source/saneavision/ This source is given in the man pages of the sane-avision backend. --> The AV176+ is completely supplorted by build 900 of the avision backend.
I am aware that the current Sane version is based on build 296 while excactcode references build 900.
What would I expect? If exactcode sources will not be merged into the Sane backend please add an explanation to the man pages. Renè Rebe from exactcode did not want to give an detailed explanation to my private e-mail. But maybe he can add a short statement on the further proceedings and contributions from exactcode side.
What eles would I expect? I would like to take a chance on compiling the Sane Avision backend by using the build 900 sources. They are not available and hence the comment on supported hardware of build 900 is kind of annoying. Please add a comment to the man pages where the build 900 sources can be obtained from. Alternatively please add information on if and when the build 900 or parts of it will go into the official branch.
